Born born in Ionia, Mich.,the first child of Hugh & Carolyn Bowerman. His early years were filled with farm & 4H adventures with his numerous cousins from the Charles & Carolyn Peterson Clan. His Junior year in High School, he moved to Carson City where his father opened a DeSoto dealership. He began working for the family business. He met & married Rosella Springsteen of Butternut, MI. where they raised three sons. In 1960 Phil began working for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Most of his career was spent in density testing & retired as Supervisor of Density Technology & a lead nuclear safety officer for the State of Michigan. In retirement Phil & Rosella relocated near Arcadia, Mich, where they grew spruce for Christmas trees & for Landscaping at Herring View Tree Farm. Phil was an avid skeet & sporting clays shooter competing around the state & regularly at Kaleva's Big Bear Sportsman's Club & Missions Skeet & Trap in Texas. Survived by his wife Rosellia Bowerman, 2 sons Steven P.Bowerman; Kurt (Wendy) Bowerman, grandchildren; Jeremy Bowerman (Alma,MI), Amber Farrar (St Louis,MI), Kaitlyn Bowerman (Orlando,FL), Deborah Kersting (Wauwatosa, WI), Susan DeVries(Augustine, FL), & Philip Bowerman (Norman, OK) & 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 1 son Scott Bowerman, parents Hugh (Daniel & Carolyn (Amelia) Bowerman, sister Martha Kucks & in-laws Jay & Annis Springsteen. A graveside service will be held at Blaine Twp., Cemetery on Sunday, April 26, 2026, with reception following at the Blaine Twp. Hall on White Owl Road.
