He had been ill for several months but death was unexpected. Born December 11, 1865 in Hannibal, N.Y., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar H. Bradt. He came to Muir with his parents when a small child. His father died when he was five years old and his mother died when he was 15. After the death of his mother, he left his home in Muir and returned to New York and at the age of 19 returned to Muir where he was married March 16, 1887 to Lucy E. Daskam of Muir. The couple moved to Lansing where he was employed by a building firm and later in a similar business firm in Muir. In 1895 the couple made their home in Lyons where Mr. Bradt began a furniture business. With the late Thomas Hawley, he formed a partnership in the undertaking business which he continued alone after the death of Mr. Hawley. His health failed him about seven years ago and although he had retained his furniture store, he was no longer active in it. For six years, he and Mrs. Bradt spent their winters in Florida with the exception of the past two years when they have been unable to go. Mr. Bradt was a member of the Lyons Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, Lucy; two daughters, Mrs. Chester (Gladys) Retallic of Detroit and Mrs. William (Bernice) Weisgerber of Ionia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home in Lyons. Rev. Gerald Jacobs of Lyons will officiate assisted by Rev. Howard Fuller of the LeValley Methodist church.
