J. DEMARAY DIED FRIDAY P.M. Mina Cheney Demaray, 76, died Friday afternoon at her home on Pleasant street after several weeks of illness. She was born January 3, 1870, in Carlton township, Barry county. She was married to John Demaray about 56 years ago and they had made Lake Odessa their home for the past 50 years. She was the first "gold star" mother of World war I in this community and Laverne Demaray post of the American Legion is named for her son. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and the Maccabees, and an active Townsendite worker. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary. She is survived by her husband John; one sone, Oliver Merle, Lake Odessa; a daughter Mrs. Clyde Adams at Cheboygan; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother Allie in Woodland. Funeral services were held at the Pickens Brothers chapel Monday afternoon with the Rev. Ronald A. Hoffman of Lansing officiating, and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.
