Feb. 27, 1974 VANESSA DALE DEVERS PEWAMO - Vanessa Dale Devers, 15 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Devers of Taft road died early Wednesday in Ionia County Memorial hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Ionia May 11, 1958, she was a sophomore at Pewamo-Westphalia school where she was a member of Future Home makers of America club and attended Ionia Free Methodist church. Surviving are her parent Wilford and Addie Devers, four sisters, Mrs. Palema Zell of Detroit, Mrs. Connie Dukes of Ionia, Mrs. Carol Wolf of Milliken and Gloria at home. Also surviving are two brothers Ray and Steve, at home, and her paternal grandmother Mrs. Myrtle Winters of Lyons. The body rests at Hull Memorial chapel in Muir where funeral services are incomplete. Ionia Sentinel Standard-Mon. March 4, 1974 VANESSA DALE DEVERS. Rev. Joseph Noom of Sparta Free methodist church officiated at funeral services Saturday at 2 pm in Muir for Vanessa Dale Devers. Interment was at Muir cemetery. Bearers were Roy Westendorf, Gerald Nurenburg, Charles Cowling, Terry Jeffery, Robert Thomas, Mark Norris, Peter Schafer and Lester Shepard. Sophomores of the Pewamo-Westphalia high school attended in a group and served as honor bearers and also provided escort.
