Dulek, 89, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 in Lowell. She was born January 20, 1925, the daughter of Don and Lura (Moss) Merithew. Wilma graduated from Carson City High Schools in 1942 as salutatorian of her class. She also completed business classes at Lansing Business University. Wilma began employment in 1943 as a stenographer at the Ypsilanti Reed Company in Ionia, and remained there until her retirement from the accounting department in 1986, by which time the company had become General Tire. She was an excellent cook and baker, a talented seamstress, and enjoyed vegetable gardening and the canning of her produce. Wilma also enjoyed playing cards (especially pinochle and cribbage), growing roses, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and knitting dishcloths. She was a league bowler for many years in Sheridan. Dedicated to the belief of donating blood, Wilma gave well over five gallons in her lifetime. In her retirement years, Wilma traveled with tour groups and made new acquaintances along the way. She loved being with her family and the company of her friends. A very generous person, Wilma often gave away her baked and canned goods, and in later years, the dishcloths she knitted. She was self-sacrificing and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family and friends will miss her greatly. Surviving Wilma are her daughters, Carolyn Wieczorek of Belding and Sharon Dulek of Kenosha, WI; daughter-in-law, Deb Dulek of Greenville; grandchildren, Brian Wireman, Jaime Wireman, Molly (Ryan) Harmon, Matt (Amy) Brockdorf, Derek (Erin) Dulek, Christopher (Heather) Wieczorek, and Alyssa Wieczorek; great- grandsons, Zander Brockdorf and Michael Harmon; great-granddaughter baby Wieczorek due this month; sister, Wanda Wolverton; sister-in-law, Carole Merithew; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Doug Dulek; and brother, Robert Merithew. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Sharon Barnsdale officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, or to act.alz.org/TeamCapri (in support of the September 2014 Alzheimer's walk that members of Wilma's family will be participating in).
