Durkee, 88, an old resident of Odessa township died at his home about four miles north of Lake Odessa, Saturday morning after several weeks of failing health. Mr. Durkee was from a sturdy stock who settled in Michigan when the country was being cleared up. He was married three times, his wives all preceding him in death. Those surviving are two sons Clarence at Barryton, and the Rev. Raymond E. on the home farm, and three daughters, Mrs. Arthur E. Leigh in Lansing, Mrs. Dougas M. Bouck at Grand Ledge, and Mrs. Ernest Beard, northwest of Lake Odessa, and Mrs. Doris Peart at Traverse City, 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two brothers Fremont at Ionia, and Ellis in Lake Odessa. Funeral services were held Monday at the late home with the Rev. Cole of Clarksville officiating. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
