          DOROTHY EMELANDER, 86
   Dorothy Emelander, 86, of Saranac, passed away Dec. 3, 2017.
   She was born on April 27, 1931, in Vickeryville, the daughter of Maurice and
Rhoda (Eitterman) Phillips.  
Dorothy married Stanley Emelander on May 14, 1950.  He passed away on July 1, 2000.
   She worked at Ionia National Bank and Attwood Corporation but her main focus was
working the family farm with her husband and raising her children.  She also loved 
a card game any day of the week and listening to Tigers baseball.
   Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda Emelander of Ionia, John Emelander of
Ionia, Kathryn (Carl) Werner of Muskegon, Polly Emelander of Wisconsin; grandchildren, 
Victoria (Eric), Timothy (Peggy), Jeffery (Allison), Jeremy (Tiffany), Andrew 
(Taylor), Jessica, Karyn (Darnell), Kimberly (Nicholas), Kaitlyn (Brock); 
special family friend, Michelle Hopkins; 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; sons, Kenneth and
Charles; daughter, Debra Emelander; granddaughter, Leanne Werner; three brothers 
and one sister.
   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral
Home in Saranac with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment Saranac Cemetery.
   Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior
to the service.
