Fell, 79 of South State Road, Ionia, died early Wednesday morning in Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Born in Portland May 3, 1904, he was the son of Thomas and Elsie Huff Fell. He attended Portland schools and married Nellie Rocka on Feb.4, 1928, at the First Christian Church in Ionia. They made their home in Ionia most of their married lives. He was employed by Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture Co.; Ionia Manufacturing Co., and A.O. Smith, retiring in 1969. For 12 years he and his wife owned and operated Fell’s Motel on South State Road before selling the motel in 1970. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, Franklin R. Fell Sr. of Lansing, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Burris of Lansing and Mary Lyons of Jenison. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Frye of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
