Death overtook Horace S. Forman at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George 
Phillips, a mile south of Belding, near Smyrna, Monday, after an illness 
which was caused by paralysis and which was of short duration. He was 73 
years old. He was born at Hillsdale, Mich., May 25, 1844 and when nine years 
of age, came with his parents to Ionia county. In 1862 he enlisted in the 
Third Michigan infantry at Saranac, was discharged through injuries 
received. In 1864 he again enlisted in the Third Michigan Engineers and 
Mechanics and was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. On September, 
1864, he was married to Miss Eliza Currie, at Ionia, and a second wife was 
Mrs. Alta Worthington and her death took place about three months ago. 
Funeral Thursday, burial at Smyrna.
