Excerpts from Saranac Obituary

Constance Gage

Died July 3, 2026 age 83 of Saranac after a journey with dementia.
Born July 2,1943 in Grand Rapids, MI, the oldest daughter of seven children of 
Gerrit H. Boomers & Norma Viola (Hanson) Boomers.
Connie was raised for the first 3 years by her Mom & maternal grandparents, Hans 
Emil & Ida (Versluis)Hanson. while her father was deployed in India during World 
War II.
The rest of her childhood was spent in Ada,MI on Bronson Street.
Connie loved to read & write.At age 12 she began corresponding with pen pals,a 
hobby that gave her great joy.She started on a antique typewriter, but upgraded 
to an electric typewriter & then a computer.
Connie was able to meet some of her pen pals throughout her life through pen-pal 
picnics & road trips.
She also began raising  & caring for parakeets & finches, bringing her much joy.
She especially enjoyed the campground visits at Little Brevort North Campground 
in Brevort;, MI ,in the upper Peninsula. 
Connie also liked knitting & sewing & spent many hours scrapbooking Family 
History, with good friends June Seiler & Mary Lou Webster, through photographs, 
keepsakes & memories.
Connie attended Ada Community Reformed Church & graduated in the first 
graduating class of Forest Hills Central High School in 1961.
She worked at Amway before takin a position at Newell Manufacturing, where she 
met Dean Roy Gage, whom she married on July 20, 1962.
They first lived in apartments in Lowell before purchasing a house in Ada on 
Bailey Drive.
They lived in several different locations. They built a house at the corner of 
M-91 & Montcalm road, lived at the historic Seiler Farm on Peck Lake Road in 
Saranac, a home on Potters road in Lowell built by Dean's brother, Gary Gage. 
two homes on Liberty street in Saranac. Connie worked along side of Dean helping 
remodel these homes.
Survived by her husband, Dean Roy Gage; her four children, Cherie Lynn (Tom), 
Dean Roy (Julie Prichard)Gage Jr., Christine Renae (Bill) Phipps, and Cindie Rae 
Schaefer; her grandchildren, Erika (Dan) Yonker, Anthony Hagen, Liza (Chris) 
Cavanaugh, Nicholas Hagen, Alicia(Brent)Wendt, Jacob Gage Sydney Gage,Brian 
(Erica)Schafer, Harley children, Alex (Mike) Gehan, June Yonker, Karson Hagen, 
Timothy Cavanaugh, Natalie Cavanaugh, Samuel Cavanaugh. Lydia Hagen, Huksley 
Wendt, Kate Wendt, Kinsley Gage, Paisley Schaefer and Madilyn Schaefer; Siblings
Donna Homan. (Leslie) Boomers, Michael (Laura)Boomers, Mary Eteo, Nancy (Phil) 
Badenhop & many nieces & nephews. Also survived by her dear Aunt Carol Hoffman.
Preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit & Norma Boomers. siblings Linda Hoffman 
& Gary Boomers.
Funeral services will be at Saranac Community Church on Wednesday, July 8, at 
11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ethan Tewing officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the  Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saranac Community Church Food Pantry, 
Interim Hospice of the Boston Historical Society.
