Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

MICHAEL FRANCIS GALLAGHER 

Died March 2, 2026-age 83 in Fountain Hills, Arizona.
Born November 15, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI, son of Fred & Noni Gallagher.
A man of deep faith, dedicated to service, & unwavering devotion to his family.
Michael was raised in a close knit family in Ionia,MI.
Graduated from S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic High School in 1960.
He attended Alexian Brothers School of Nursing, graduated in 1963.
Later he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Aquinas College in 1973.
Had a long career with the Michigan Department of Corrections from 1968 until 
retirement in 1995.
In retirement he was a member of the Ionia County Mental Health Board.
He lived his faith teaching youth catechism. serving as a Eucharistic Minister.
Was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Schroeder Gallagher in October 17, 2025.
Survived by his sons;Michael (Nathalie) Gallagher, James Gallagher & John 
Gallagher.
Siblings, Garry (Audrey) Gallagher, Noni (Tim) Pletcher, & Kathy (Charlie) Fox.
Grandchildren; Kaelah Gallagher, Caiden Gallagher, Erick Campbell & Colleen 
Anderson & two great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews.
After a lifetime in Michigan, Michael lived in Tempe since 2021 with his wife 
Carol.
His last six months  living in Fountain Hills, AR in a memory care facility. 
There will be Services for both Carol & Mike on Saturday, may 30, 2026 at S.S. 
Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ionia,MI.
