Ionia Sentinel Standard, 15 & 17 Apr 1978

Lorna D. Gayait, 20 of 425 East Lincoln avenue died early Friday morning in the
fire that destroyed her home and also claimed the life of her 18 month-old son,
Jason.  She was born July 5, 1957 in Ionia the daughter of Arthur and Donnabelle
Bennett Matthews.  She attended Ionia public schools and married Mark Gayait in
March 1976.  She was formerly employed at Arden corporation and Burger Chef.

She is survived by her husband Mark of New Hampshire, her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Matthews, five brothers, Paul, David, Wayne D. and Steven A. all of
Ionia, and William A. of Fort Ord, Calif., one sister Marlene Lesky of Ionia and
one step-sister, Neola Greau, of Gladstone.  Her grandmother, Mrs. Minnie
Nielsen of Ionia also survives.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Myers-Roetman funeral home.

Funeral services for Lorna D. Matthews Garyait and Jason Garyait will be Tuesday
at 1:30 p.m. from the Myers-Roetman funeral home with Rev. Ralph Barton
officiating.  Burial is in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive
friends and relatives at the funeral home Monday 7 to 9 p.m.
