The Ionia Daily Standard, Saturday, July 8, 1905

Frederick Gierman, the last of that fine old German group of brothers, died 
this morning at 10:30 o’clock, from valvular disease of the heart.  He was 
aged 79 years and six months, and was a rather unusual specimen of physical 
robustness.  His home for many years was on North Jefferson St., west side, 
just at the foot of the Steele hill.  The funeral will be attended from St. 
John’s Lutheran church at 2 p.m. on Monday.
