Old Resident Dies of Blood Poisoning

William Hall, age 67, Died From Result of Slight Scratch on Arm.

William Hall passed away at his home in the village at 2 o’clock Monday morning 
at the age of 67.  His death was due to blood-poisoning, which developed from a 
scratch received on one of his arms while unloading coal sometime ago.

Mr. Hall was born in Orange township.  Early in life he married Miss Frances 
Manning, who preceded him in death.  Of this union, one daughter, Mrs. Roy 
Buck, who resides in Lyons township, survives.

His second wife was Miss Nettie Walter and there are three children by this 
marriage.

He drilled many wells in the vicinity of Portland, this having been his trade, 
and later was in the draying business.  He also carried the mail and express at 
one time.

Rev. McGregor officiated at the funeral services which were held at the home at 
2 p.m. Tuesday, and burial was made in the Portland cemetery.

Mrs. Hall also contracted blood-poisoning while administering to her husband, 
but her case is not considered as serious.
