He was a patient sufferer and was conscious to the last. He was born in Danby twp., Ionia County, on April 19, 1874, and came to this city with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jason Hicks about fourteen years ago. He was a printer by trade and was a faithful employee in both the Banner and Star offices here for several years prior to his illness. He was a whole- souled boy; honest, genial and upright, and was admired and esteemed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday, conducted by Rev. J. J. Staley, and the remains were taken to Portland for burial in the family lot.
