GLENN D. HOOPER
IONIA - Glenn d. Hooper, 85, a longtime Ionia resident and former Michigan
Reformatory Furniture Superintendent, died Friday at Loma Linda Veteran's Hospital in
California.

He was born in Kent County Aug.7, 1896, the son of Frederick and Clara Pilgram
Hooper.

He attended Ionia schools and served with the U.S. Army in World War I.

He worked in the Pere Marquette Car Shop and at Stafford Furniture in Ionia before
going to work in the Michigan reformatory furniture factory in 1923.

He retired as furniture superintendent in 1961.

Mr. Hooper married Alice Humphreys Feb. 2, 1922, in Grand Rapids, and they lived
their entire married life in Ionia, wintering in California the last 25 years.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul  Church, a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of
Columbus, a life member of the Ionia Elks Lodge and a member of the Ionia American 
legion Post.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; four sons, James of Lansing, George (Thomas) of 
Jackson, Forrest of Hawaii and Gary of Fresno, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m for SS. Peter and Paul Church with the Rev.

Henry Dondzila officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick Funeral Home Tuesday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A scriptural rosary will be recited at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Memorial may be to the American Cancer Society , and envelopes will be available at
the funeral home.
