William (Bill) Hopkins, 80, of Belding, passed away June 19, 2000 at Metron of
Greenville Nursing Home.  He was born on Dec. 24, 1919, in Fremont, the son of
William E. and Mae (McGhan) Hopkins.  He was a graduate of Coal High School with
the class of 1937.  Hopkins was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his
country and receiving a Purple Heart in 1944 while serving in Siapen.  He
retired in 1975 from Belding Products after 27 years as supervisor.  He was a
member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Greenville and of the Disabled American
Veterans of Greenville.  Hopkins was also an active leader in the 4-H group.  He
enjoyed farming and was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be
greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was married on April 28, 1945, in Greenville to Wavel Buchholz and she
survives along with their children, Carolyn (Pete) Dood of Canton, Gerald
((Dawn) Hopkins of Belding, Ronald (Debra) Hopkins of Belding; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Vivian Culter
of Vicksburg, Maxine (William) Little of Vicksburg; Lloyd Hopkins of Zephyer
Hills, Fla., Clifford (Arlene) Hopkins of Belding; and one sister-in-law, Jean
Hopkins of St. Petersburg, Fla.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one
brother, Richard.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Greenville with Pastor Scott Lindner officiating.  Interment will be in River
Ridge Cemetery, Belding,  Visitation will be at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9
p.m. today at the Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.  Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Parkinson Foundation.
