Ionia Sentinel Standard - September 25, 1989

                            LEONA HORTON

IONIA - Leona Horton, 47, of Ionia, died Sept. 23 at the Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital

She was born the daughter of Leon and Callie Mae Jones on March 13, 1942 in 
Arkansas.

She worked for the Commission on Aging in Ionia, and she worked at the Ionia 
Temporary Facility as a clerk. She was a member of the Ionia SeventhDay 
Adventist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Chaplin Walter L.Horton; three sons, Leonard Marcus 
of Lansing, Jonathon Lamont and David Christopher, both of Ionia; her parents, 
Mrs.and Mrs. Leon Jones of Madera, Calif.; two brothers, Walter Jones of 
Oakland, Calif, and Cecil Jones of Madera, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs.Charles 
(Versie) Brinage fo Madera, Calif., Barbara Simpson of Madera, Mrs.Leslie 
(Josephine) Graves of Pasadena, Calif., Evelyn Bellinger of Oakland, 
Calif.;several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Ionia Seventh Day 
Adventist Church, the Rev. Jerry Mayes officiating.

Burial will be in California.

Visiting hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 at the Cook Funeral 
Home in Ionia.

Memorial Contribution may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Memorial 
Fund.
