Orleans – Chas. Hurd, and old resident of this place, died very suddenly Sept.
5th, being overcome with the heat while at work.  Mr. Hurd was born July 28,
1825 in Armenian, New York, coming with his parents to Michigan in 1831, and
settling in Washtenaw county, thence to Orleans.  Mr. Hurd has always been noted
for his generosity and kindness, giving freely to all charitable and church
funds.  Mr. Hurd had three brothers and five sisters all of whom have gone to
rest excepting one brother Gilbert Hurd of Saline, Mich.  The funeral services
were held from his old home Friday, Sept. 6, at 2 o’clock, services were
conducted by Rev. J.W. Buell, the text being taken from Psalms 39-4.  Interment
in the Orleans cemetery.  His brother Mr. Gilbert Hurd, who was present at the
funeral wishes to express his thanks to all who was so kind and willing to do
for his brother before and after his death also for the many beautiful floral
tributes of esteem.
