Born December 15,1939 in Greenville,MI.to Joseph & Virginia (Kennedy) Koehnlein. Harry & his sister were raised in Ionia by their grandparents,Harry & Rose Kennedy & Aunt Marilyn Kennedy. He graduated in 1958 from SS.Peter & Paul Catholic School in Ionia where he formed special friendships lasting his lifetime. While serving the US Army from 1962-1965 in Germany for the majority of the time, was able to explore Europe, visiting England, France, Austria & even skiing in the Swiss Alps. Carl returned to work in Ionia at the County New where he met & married his wife of 40 years, Betsy Munger. After a merger he continued on staff at the Ionia Sentinel Standard printing the daily newspapers until 1983 when he partnered with Keith Sypher to start S & K Printing. They sold that business in 2008. Carl continued to work a S & K Printing up to a month before he died. Carl was an avid sports fan & enjoyed all sports. Attended a Chicago game, several Tigers, Whitecaps & Baltimore Orioles games & enjoyed a rare Lions win over the Packers at Ford Field with his daughter, Carrie. Carl enjoyed playing golf with friends & daughter Kelly, participating in local leagues & tournaments. Carl became member of the Moose Lodge in 1975 & Ionia Hunting & Fishing Club in the early 70's. They lived on the Munger Fam in Muir with his family & mother-in-law. He helped his former son-in-law farming on the Sandborn farm in Portland during the planting & Harvesting Season. Survived by his daughters, Carrie (Gerry) Koehnlein-Alden & Kelly (Clay) Ramsey, former wife Betsy, step-father Wayne Snyder, step-grandchildren,Garrett,Ryan & Aaron Ramsey, sister-in-law, Wanda Shurlow, nieces & nephews, Kent (Jane) Coon, Jenny Werkema, Deb Shurlow, Scott(Amy) Shurlow, Cindy (Brad) Masse, Roz (Chad) Clemens, former son-in-law, Jeff (Allison)Sandborn, special friends Dick Simmons & Tyler Basler. Preceded in death by his parents, Sister & brother-in-law, Sharon & Mike Coon Sister-in-law Jeanne Freund, brother-in-laws Bill Shurlow & Frank Ruggerio. Special thanks to amazing staffs of DaVita Dialysis, SKLS Rehab, Green Acres Retirement Home and ProMedica Hospice for their support, care & love during Carl's illness. Friend & relatives are invited to Celebration of Life dinner at Ionia Moose Lodge on Saturday,November 19th, from 4-7 pm with a eulogy at 5:30 p.m. Carl requested monetary contributions to be made to Moose Lodge #998, E.Lincoln Ave,Ionia 48846 & Ionia County Hunting & Fishing Club , Bluewater Hwy., Ionia,MI 48846.
