Rev. E. Humphrey officiated. Burial was in Lakeside. Mr. Lane married Miss Savina Lawyer of Lowell December 5, 1878. The couple came to Odessa township 55 years ago and settled on the farm now owned by his son, Roy. The home founded was a short distance from South Cass, now known as Odessa Center, which was the first trading center in Odessa township. He saw Bonanza, a trading center a mile and a half to the south, boom to a busy district when it was thought the Pere Marquette railroad would come that way, only to move further south to Lake Odessa, where the tracks were laid. Now both original districts are entirely gone. Mr. and Mrs. Lane celebrated their sixty-fist wedding anniversary December 5. Besides Mrs. Lane he is survived by one son, Roy, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
