Durwood Voight Litchfield, of Portland, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006 
at Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing at the age of 84.  He was born 
February 22, 1922 on Wacousta, MI: son of Roy W. and Retta (Shaffer) 
Litchfield.  Durwood served in the U.S. Army during WWI as a Staff Sergeant.  
After leaving the Army, he worked 30 years with General Motors in skilled 
trade.  Since retirement he has enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and 
spending winters in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Litchfield.  Surviving are his 
daughter, Cheryl Figg, daughter-in-law, Betty Sefton, 5 grandchildren, Theresa 
(Joel) Riebow, Angela Figg, Michael (Kristi) Figg, David Litchfield, and 
Steven (Heather) Litchfield, 3 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, and 
Madalyn.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who affectionately 
called him Uncle Chub.  

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday October 30, 2006 at the Rosier 
Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Rev. Roy R. Atherton of the 
Sunfield United Brethren Church officiating.  The family will receive their 
friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.  For those wishing, 
contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Mid Michigan c/o RFH P.O. 
Box 36, Sunfield, MI  48890.

Military honors and committal service will be held at the Sunfield Cemetery 
immediately following the funeral at the funeral home.  The family is being 
served by the Independent Family Owned Funeral Home in Sunfield: Rosier 
Funeral Home.
