The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, August 11, 1934

Mrs. John R. Martin, of Lansing, 45 years old, died at the Sparrow hospital, 
Friday evening, following an operation.  Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. William Speckin, Hill street.  She was born in Ionia and attended the 
high school here.  She leaves besides her husband, four sons and one daughter, 
all of Lansing; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Speckin, four 
brothers, Fred, of Grand Rapids; Henry, Bernard and Clarence, of Ionia, and 
one sister, Mrs. Alfred Vermilyea, of Lansing.  Funeral arrangements have not 
been completed.
