IONIA – Eldon “Bud” R. McCord, 66, of Ionia, died Sunday at Butterworth 
Hospital, Grand Rapids.

Born May 1, 1922, in Easton Township, he was the son of Robert M. and Blanche 
Rowland McCord.

He was graduated from Ionia High School with the Class of 1940 and served in 
the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant, from 1943-46, during World War II.

He was married to Beverly Bliss March 23, 1947, at First Christian Church in 
Ionia.

He was employed for ten years at Mitchell-Bentley Corp, of Ionia and was co-
worker of Horrocks Farm Market in Lansing beginning in 1959 and retiring in 
1976, and recently had assisted his son at McCord Farm Market in Ionia.

He had been a member of First Christian Church since 1948, serving as board 
chairman, elder and deacon. 

Surviving are his wife; a son, Stephen McCord of Ionia; two daughters Mrs. 
Sandy (Nancy) Wilson of Saginaw and Mrs. Will (Carol) McCord of Sturgeon Bay, 
Wis.; six grandchildren; one brother, Richard McCord of Ionia; two sisters, 
Mrs. Art (Bernice) Goodier of Locust Gove, Va. and Mrs. Robert (Doris) 
Montgomery of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Royce McCord, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from First Christian Church of 
Ionia, with his pastor, the Rev. F. Michael Valentine, officiating.

Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 
p.m.

Memorials have been established for First Christian Church Memorial Fund and 
American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
