Arthur Megarah, 82, a retired Portland Police officer, died Saturday.  Mr.
Megarah was born on Dec. 18, 1897, in Collins, Mich., the son of Edward Megarah
and Eliza Denning.  He served with the Portland Police Department until his
retirement.  Mr. Megarah lived at 1800 Lillian Blvd., Portland.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, one son, Richard, of Lansing; one daughter,
Elizabeth Knapp, of Bellaire; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Neller Funeral Home in Portland
with the Rev. Ronald Lahr officiating.  Burial will be in the Portland Cemetery.
