George Conrad Miller, aged 91, of Saranac, passed away Dec. 22, 2009.

He was born Sept. 24, 1918 in Grand Rapids, the son of George and Mae Marie 
(Scott) Miller. He married Mildred Frances Humphries May 8, 1943 in Wyoming 
Park. Millie preceded him in death Feb. 2, 2005. George was a WWII Veteran 
serving in the European theater. He participated in significant campaigns 
including the D-Day invasion landing on Omaha Beach and The Battle of the 
Bulge. George was awarded the Silver and Bronze Battle Stars, and the Croix de 
Guerre Belgian Fourragere. He was responsible for manufacturing operations at 
Saranac Manufacturing, Ace Plating and lacks Industries. George’s unwavering 
dedication to his profession was a testament to his personal work ethic and 
self-discipline. George was a past president of Saranac Little League. He 
donated the land for the Saranac High School Baseball Field, appropriately 
named Miller Field. George and Millie were Grand Marshals for Bridge Fest 2001.

He is survived by sons Geoff and Ann Miller of Memphis, Tenn. And mark Miller 
of Las Vegas, N.V.; daughters Lynda (Richard) Neumann of Saranac and Barb “Bam” 
Miller of Chelsea, Mich.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; 
sister Jean (Matthew) Jacobs of Kentwood, Mich.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Hufford.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Saranac 
Community Church with Rev. Tammi Biggs, Rev. John Madvig and Pastor Melody 
Johnson officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends and relatives Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 4-6 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac. In lieu of flowers you may make memorial contributions to Saranac
