Oct. 11, 1921 PIONEER MERCHANT OF BUSHNELL BURIED SUNDAY Thomas Padgett and family, George Moss and Family of North Plains and Mr. and Mrs. William Padgett of Muir attended the funeral of William H. Mills from his late residence in Bushnell township, Montcalm county, Sunday. Burial was made at Sheridan under Masonic auspices. The deceased kept store at Bushnell for 35 years and was postmaster there until the office was discontinued with the coming of rural free delivery. He is survived by a son, Joel D. Mills, of Lansing, and a daughter, Mrs. Freeman Taylor. Mr. Mills was a grandson of the late Major Mills, who made the first land entry in North Plains township on section 19. George Moss, who occupies the farm at the present time, is the last surviving grandson of Major Mills, and has in his possession a deed signed by Martin VanBuren, who was President of the United States at the time the deed was made.
