Portland Review - Feb. 1, 2009


Samuel Clayton Mitchell, 81, passed away Jan. 7, 2009 at his residence.

He was born May 8, 1927 in Live Oak, Fla., to the late Clarence Mitchell and 
Mamie (Waldron) Mitchell. He worked construction as a heavy equipment operator, 
was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church, and was a 
veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth.

Survivors include sons, Sam (Connie) Mitchell of Portland, Darrell (Barbara) 
Mitchell of Owosso and Thomas (Georgia) Mitchell of Homerville, Ga.; 
grandchildren, Tamara (Tim) Smiley, Troy (Deanna) Mitchell, Kevin (Nhu) 
Mitchell, Scott (Tracy) Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Michael Mitchell and Julie 
Mitchell and five great-grandchildren.
