Nicholson, 72, of 5571 Tupper Lake road, died Wednesday afternoon at Kent Community hospital. She had been hospitalized five weeks. She was born in Sebewa township February 22, 1901, the daughter of Robert and Rhoda Yager Austin. She married Rev. Leon D. Nicholson July 16, 1919 at Lake Odessa. She spent most of her life in the Woodland and Lake Odessa area, and also lived in Cedar Springs for six years. After Rev. Nicholson’s’ retirement from a pastorate in Cedar Springs they returned to the area. She had resided at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Aldrich for the past four years. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of the Free Methodist church in Cedar Springs. She is survived by her husband; six sons, Maynard, Leon, Donald and Arlo of Hastings, Robert of Battle Creek and Loren of Lansing; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Evelyn) Aldrich of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Blakely of Bayport and Wauneita and Betty Arlene Nicholson, both of Midland. Two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Classic and Mrs. Florence Begerow, both of Woodland, thirty grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. Services are Saturday at 1:30 at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in Lake Odessa with Rev. Wayne Cash and Rev. Alfred Ruble officiating. Burial is in the Lakeside cemetery.
