Oakley died Wednesday at the residence of Kim King in Otisco. She was in her sixty-seventh years, and is the mother of two children. Funeral Saturday, burial at Belding cemetery. ------------ Obituary. Elvira J. Bowman was born in Canada, June 28th, 1834 and was united in marriage to Wilson Oakley, February 4th, 1854. To this union were born two children Elizabeth and J. Wellington. With the husband and family the deceased removed to Ionia county, Michigan, in 1867, where they have since resided, Mr. Oakley having died Nov. 30th, 1882, and Mrs. Oakley having joined the husband in the mystery of death Wednesday morning, April 3d, after three months of dreadful suffering, during which time she was obliged to sit up in her chair, in which she died, not having been able to lie down since the beginning of her last illness, Jan. 7th, and during which time she almost daily prayed for death to relieve her of her terrible suffering. Besides her two children J. Willington Oakley and Mrs. K. King, both of whom survive her, the deceased leaves two sisters, two brothers, three grandchildren and one little great grandchild besides a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, Rev. Klose officiating. Burial in Belding cemetery.
