Ionia Sentinel Standard, 23 Aug 1972

A long time Ionia resident, Mrs. Lottie E. O’Connor, 86, of 517 West Lincoln,
died early Wednesday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital.  She had been
admitted Tuesday evening.  Born in Grand Ledge, July 4, 1886, she was the
daughter of John and Della Houck Capwell.  She moved to Ionia in 1900 living
here two years before moving to Sault St. Marie.  She returned to Ionia in 1911
and was employed at Cartens store.

July 20, 1920, she was married to Peter J. O’Connor at SS Peter and Paul church
and made her home here since.  She assisted her husband in the operation of
O’Connor grocery many years.  He preceded her in death June 25, 1967.  She was a
member of SS Peter and Paul church, its Altar Rosary society and Daughters of
Isabella.

Surviving are a daughter, Honora O’Connor of Rochester; two sons, John and Rex
of Ionia; seven grandchildren; one half sister, Mrs. Ernest Carlson of North
Bend, Oregon.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul church.  Msgr.
Edward Jaworowicz will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial
Gardens.  Parish rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Leddick funeral
home.  Family will be at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
