Excerpts from Portland Obituary

GEORGE WILLIAM OSTROM

Died. July 14, 2026-age 78 of Ionia.
Born April 23, 1948, in Lansing,MI, son of Hazel & Elver Ostrom.
George was on wrestling and football teams for Eastern High School, were he 
graduated in class of 1967,
Shortly after, he was drafted in the U.S. Army where he served as a turret 
mechanic with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
When he returned he married Charleen Carrier, on March 27, 1971.
George & Charleen had two daughters, Natalie (partner James & daughters Bailey & 
Cailynn) and Adrienne (fiance Gary & daughter Lillian); adopted daughter Susan 
Williams & her son Wyatt.
He is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (Commander 1981-1982) 
Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Order of Trench Rats (Former State Commander) 
and a Free Mason.
George volunteered for various organizations & played "A" ball for Stroh's 
Softball Team, managed Johnsons's Bar Softball Team & Umpired softball for 25 
years
He was skilled as a carpenter & helped friends building houses, barns & other 
projects.
He was proud of his three grandchildren, Cailynn Miller, Baill
ey Miller, & Lillian Sinke & his bonus grandchild, Wyatt.
Preceded in death by his parents & his two sisters, Mary & Elizabeth.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
