WALTER LEROY PEACOCK

Died August 6, 2026-age 83 of Ionia.
Born May 27, 1943 in Ionia,MI to Albert "Joe" Peacock & Clara (Grinnel) 
Peacock.
Wally's was growing up on Bellamy Road, as part of a blended family, that 
included the Peacock children and his mother Emma Picken's five children.
Wally graduated from Ionia High School in 1961, then attended DeVries 
Institute of Technology in Chicago.
Electronics was Wally favorite hobby, beginning his career as an electrician 
with Xerox & eventually retiring from General Motors Fisher Body in Lansing, 
MI after 30 years.
He obtained his pilots license and also competed in Montesa motorcycle trials, 
often medaling.
He delighted in vehicles-always GM.The more gadgets the better.
He could fix anything.His side interest were ham radios, restoring juke boxes 
and watching Michigan Football.
Married Judy (Clark) reed in Las Vegas, on February 14, 1990.
Having 36 years together, dancing together, learning clogging and teaching 
country line dancing.
They built their cottage at Perch Lake, north of Greenville, where the 
families gathered summer time and Holidays.
After retiring they traveled along with their community of snow birds on 
cruises & winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona, exploring miles of the desert in 
their jeeps.
survived by his wife, Judy, his children; Sherry (Bill) 
Vaarberg of Ionia, Julie (John) Salman of Portland, Carolyn (Mike) McDermott) 
Reynolds of Mason, and Jennifer (Jon) Reitzenstein of Ada.
Grandchildren;Rachelle Breeden, Lindsey (Tyler) Reaume, Shanna Thorn, KC 
(Amber Spitzley) Reynolds, John (Jordon) Vaarberg, Breianna Peacock, Chase 
Reynolds, Cassidy (Reese) Stuart, and Elana and Emma Kavanaugh.
Great-grandchildren; Otto, Tessa, Ivy, Cole, and Mason and many bonus 
grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Surviving siblings; Sandra Gilliland, Bob (Joanne) Pickens, and Linda (Gary) 
Shimmel. lifelong friend Dick Lett & several many dear friends as family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Joe" and Emma Peacock, his son 
Robert "Bobby" Peacock and siblings Albert Peacock, and Mary Lee Besson.
The family is grateful to Green Acres and Interim Health Care of Grand Rapids 
for the loving care provided.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Friday, August 14, at Lake Funeral Home 
in Ionia with Pastor Nancy Patera officiating.
Visitation one hour prior to the service.
A luncheon will follow the service at LeValley Global Methodist Church, 4018 
Kelsey Hwy., Ionia,MI 48846.
Memorial contributions can be made to Interim Health Care of Grand Rapids.
