The Ionia Sentinel, Friday, February 26, 1875


ROBERTS.  In this city, Feb. 23, Joel Roberts, aged 92 years.

He lived near Wollingford, Conn., until he was 14 years of age; from there he 
went to Whitestown New York, where he lived two years.  He then went to New 
York City and for five years he was a guard in the state prison.  He afterwards 
settled on a farm in the town of Mexico, N.Y., and married while there, Electa 
Evarts, residing there until 1845 when he moved to Michigan where he has made 
it his home near, and in the town of Ionia until his death.
