Hasting's Reminder - Saturday August 1, 2026

BRIAN LEE ROBINSON born on February 14, 1968, in Grand Rapids, MI passed away 
unexpectedly from a heart attack while on an extended vacation in the 
Philippines on July 23, 2026.

Brian was the beloved son of Margaret Ann Pelkey (Callaghan, and the late 
Richard Lee Robinson.
He was also predeceased by his devoted stepfather, Robert Pelkey; uncles, Steve 
and Bill Callaghan, and aunt, Patricia Morcom.

His early years were spent in the tight-knit community of Clarksville, where he 
formed lasting bonds and friendships. Brian graduated from Lakewood High School 
in 1986, and shortly thereafter he demonstrated his dedication to his country by 
joining the Army Reserves.

On March 17, 1990, Brian married Amy G Manshum, and together they embarked on a 
journey filled with love and laughter, while residing in Lake Odessa. Together, 
they raised two wonderful children,Travis (Amy J.) Robinson and Whitney (Brad) 
Wilson. Brian was a proud grandfather to his  newborn granddaughter, Wren 
Wilson, and step-grandchildren Paul and Rebecka Nelson.

Brian dedicated 30 years of his professional life to the State of Michigan 
Department of Correction as a corrections officer, where he retired after a 
complex career. His colleagues remember him for his commitment to his work, 
sense of humor and approachable demeanor.

A man of varied interests, Brian was an avid baseball fan, passionately 
supporting the Detroit Tigers. He rarely missed any opportunity to cheer for his 
team, attending as many games as possible, including pre-season. His love for 
adventure took him on many great vacations including the sunny shores of Cabo 
SanLucas, where he enjoyed deep-see fishing.

Brian has a love for dogs and was known around Lake Odessa for his daily walks 
with hi adopted dog,Ginger. He also spent some of his retirement volunteering at 
Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary.

Brian is survived by his devoted mother, Margaret; his wife, Amy; his children, 
and grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved Aunt Glenna Callaghan, 
Uncle Donnie and  Aunt Jo Callaghan, and numerous cousins, all of whom will 
cherish his memory forever.

Brian's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have 
supported them during this difficult time. Although a private ceremony will be 
held to honor his life, the family encourages those who wish to remember Brian 
to consider donating to Ionia County Animal Shelter.
