Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

WILLIAM PALMER ROBINSON

Died Tuesday July 28, 2026-age 81 of Portland.
BornFebruary 7, 1945, in Bethesda,Maryland, son of Fred & Dora 
(Cunningham)Robinson, when Bill's father was stationed in Washington D.C. during 
World War II.
After the war, the family relocated in Dayton & Findley, Ohio before settleing 
in Hillsdale,MI.
Bill played football & basketball and ran track while at Hillsdale High School.
He was also in the Marching Band and Concert Band playing baritone while in high 
school, graduating with honors.
He was a member of the National Honor Society. 
He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology at Michigan State University.
Most of Bill's work was spent working in Children's Protective Services.
He retired from the State of Michigan in the Department of Human Services.
He met Pamela Pranger-Vollink in 1982 & they wer married on October 20, 1984, 
being together for 44 years when he died.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia,MI.& participated in 
the church's bell choir & choir.
Bill was a past president of the Ionia Lions Club, a member of the Ionia 
Community Theatre and the Portland Civic Players.
He coached Ionia Little League baseball, volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader & 
spent time with his troop at Camp Gerber in Muskegon MI.
He participated in softball leagues in Lansing,MI and did substitute teaching in 
Ionia county schools
He was a MSU sports fan, enjoyed folk festivals, playing golf, traveling & 
camping with family, and gardening.
Bill and Pam began running 5k and 10k footraces when they were in their 40's, 
continuing for 20 years and they enjoyed ball-room dancing.
Survived by his wife, Pamela of Portland, Children, Scott (Lynda) Clark of 
Portland, Jennifer Tyler of Ionia, daughter-in-law, Becky Vollink of Atlanta,MI.
His sisters, Deborah (Rick) Hengstebeck of Florida, and Marlana (Thanos) 
Souroutzidis of Indiana. His niece Ariadne (Vishaal Thanawala) Souroutzidis of 
London, England, nephews Yanni (Mahshid) Souroutzicis of New York City and Eric 
(Rachel) Hengstebeck of California.
He loved being know as "BeBop" by his grandchildren, whom are Travis (Kravis) 
Clark of Lansing,MI, Kayla (Joseph) Nowak of Manitowoc, Wis., Christopher Clark 
of Portland,MI, Brogan Tyler of Portland,MI, Emma Vollink (Brandon Asbury) of 
Ada,MI, and Mitchell Vollink of Atlanta,MI.
