Orva F. Royce of Belding, 88, died Friday in Greenville.  He was born Sept. 10,
1906, in Millbrook, Mich., the son of Fred and Phoebe Stafford Royce.  He was a
retired self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Burns Royce.  He was married
to Eythel Shear in 1975; she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Rosie Johnson of Grand Rapids, Marilynne
Cory of Belding, and Mabel (Rob) Covey of Sheridan; a son, Bob (Tonie) Royce of
Colorado, two stepdaughters, Donna (Marion) Borek of Smyrna and Suzanne (Erwin)
Taylor of Belding; two stepsons, David Steffes of Greenville and Thomas (Mary)
Steffes of Gowen; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one
brother, Edwin Winslow of Plainwell.  A brother, Ralph, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be today (Monday) at 2 p.m. from Johnson Funeral Home,
Belding, with the Rev. Dick Woodward officiating.  Burial will be in River Ridge
Cemetery.  A memorial for Alvah N. Belding Public Library has been established,
in care of the funeral home.
