ELSIE RUDD DIES, AT BUTTERWORTH HOSP.
Ionia County teacher Passed Away After Fighting Disease for Days.

Miss Elsie Rudd died Saturday afternoon at Butterworth hospital, in Grand 
Rapids. Miss Rudd developed peritonitis following an attack of double pneumonia.

Miss Rudd had been ill at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Rudd, in 
Berlin and was removed to Butterworth Hospital, February 24. She had been 
teaching for Benedict school this year.

Friday reports came from Grand Rapids that her condition seemed more hopeful. 
However, members of the family were called there late last evening, and oxygen 
was resorted to Saturday morning in an effort to tide her over the critical 
period.

She is survived by her parents, a twin brother, Eljie, who lives with his 
parents; a brother, Clinton, of Topeka, Kan., and a sister, Mrs.Ethel Walters, 
who has been a patient at Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, for more than 10 
weeks and is there at the present time.

Rev. Charles E. Thies, pastor of the LeValley Methodist church, officiated at 
the funeral service Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs.Earle C. Adgate and 
Bruce Allen sang "Beautiful Isle  of Somewhere,""Saved by Grace", and "The Old 
Rugged Cross." The young people's Missionary Society of the LeValley church and 
a representation of the Benedict school were in attendance at the service. The 
large home of her parents was filled with friends and relatives, and more than a 
hundred were unable to be seated in the house for the service. Burial was made 
in the family lot in the Letts cemetery.

Miss Rudd was a member of Lake Odessa Chapter of Eastern Star.
