April 7, 2010 Gordon Alan Scheid, 47, of rural Belding died unexpectedly Saturday, April 3, 2010, at home. Gordon was born on April 6, 1962, in Ionia, the son of Arthur A. and Sarah A. Reeves Scheid. He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1980 and in earlier years worked at Arrowhead Golf Course in Lowell, the Double R. Ranch in Smyrna and later worked 25 years at Electrolux in Greenville. Gordon enjoyed John Deere tractors and loved spending time with his daughter Aspen and serving as a chaperone on her many classroom field trips from Lincoln Heights Elementary School. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Gordon is loved and survived by his daughter Aspen Presley Scheid of Greenville, his mother Sarah Scheid of Belding, his brothers and their spouses; Theodore and Dorothy Scheid, Frederick G. and Lisa Scheid, Edward A. and Sandra Scheid all of Belding, Arthur J. and Joy Scheid, Patrick M. Scheid and Sue Carter all of Greenville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, his aunts and uncle; Eula Blanding of Greenville and Fred and Maryanne Reeves of Belding. Gordon was preceded by his father one brother in infancy, Stephen Walter Scheid, two uncles and an aunt; Walter Scheid and Gerald and Amata Scheid. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belding, with Father Fred Brucker presiding. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to St. Mary Church or to Lincoln Heights Elementary School.
