The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, March 10, 1947

Paul H. Schipper, 68, of 632 North Jackson street, died suddenly Sunday 
evening about 9:30 at the Ionia County Memorial hospital after being admitted 
shortly after 6 p.m.  

Mr. Schipper was born February 26, 1879, in Germany the son of Gustav and 
Johanna Schipper.  He came to Ionia at the age of three and in 1906 he was 
married to Emma Streicher of Oberlin, Ohio.  He worked at the Hayes-Ionia 
plant for 31 years and since 1938 has been in the poultry business on Kelsey 
Road.  A member of the St. Johns Evangelical church he belonged to the Luther 
society and the L.F.A. society.

Surviving him are three daughters, Miss Beulah Schipper, Miss Ione Schipper 
and Mrs. Gaylord Hausserman; a son, Victor; six grandchildren and a sister, 
Mrs. Ann Holtz of Ionia.

Funeral arrangements will be made late pending word from their daughter, Ione, 
who is vacationing in Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services for Paul Schipper, who died Sunday evening, will be held from 
the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 
following prayer services for the family at the home, 632 North Jackson 
street, at 2 p.m.  The Rev. R. A. Rook will officiate.  Interment will be in 
the family lot at Highland Park cemetery.  the casket will not be opened at 
the church.  Friends may view the body at the home.

Mr. Schipper is survived by his widow, Emma; three daughters, Miss Beulah 
Schipper, Miss Ione Schipper and Mrs. Gaylord Hausserman; a son, victor; six 
grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ann Holtz, of Ionia.

Their daughter, Ione, who was in Los Angeles, Calif., at the time of her 
father’s death, arrived by plane at the Grand Rapids airport Tuesday morning 
at 11 o’clock.
