July 21, 1931 MRS. LENA SCHUTZ Mrs. Lena Schutz, 76, a sufferer from heart disease several months, was found dead at the home of her son Casper Funke, 404 North Dexter street after she had gone to be down for a short rest. She had been about the house as usual during the day, and although it was known that she was failing, her sudden death was a shock to her family. Funeral service will be conducted from SS. Peter and Paul church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mrs. Schutz was born in Westphalia. She had lived for a short time when a young woman in Tennessee and for 56 years had resided in Ionia. Her marriage was to Casper Funke, who died in 1893, leaving three children, Miss Elizabeth Funke, now of Detroit; Casper Funke of Ionia, and the late Mrs. J. J. McCann. Her second marriage was to Frank Schutz, who died 28 years ago. The children of this union are Mrs. J. V. Parks of Ferndale And Mrs. Frank Healy of Waltham, Mass. She also leaves five brothers, John P. and Peter Bauer of Lansing; Nicholas and Joseph Bauer, of Fowler, and John Bauer of St. Johns and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Fox of Westphalia, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ulrich of Fowler.
