Rose M. Dyke Scrimenti, 94, of Fenton, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. Rose was
born March 23, 1910, in Hubbardston, and was one of nine children in the Herald
family.

After high school, Rose attended college for her teaching degree and taught in a
one-room school until her marriage.  When her six children were grown, she once
again returned to teaching in East Detroit, now known as Eastpointe.  She will
always be remembered for her love of children, especially the babies.  She
inherited the talent she had for sewing from her mother and each grandchild was
presented with a handmade quilt when they married.  Her Catholic faith sustained
her through many trials including “The Great Depression.”  She as an active
member of St. Basil the Great Church in Eastpointe and for many years made the
little hats that were used for christening ceremonies.

She was the wife of the late Clifton S. Dyke and the late Andrew Scrimenti;
mother of Commander Conrad S. and Shirley Dyke, Gayeann and John Stilwell, Nancy
and Michael Poulin, the late Marshall and Cathy Dyke, Cheryl and Larry Velliky,
Dennis and Mary Dyke.  She had 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four
great great grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters, Donna Kelly, Betty
Colorado, Bernita Cunningham; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, Hubbardston, with Father Charlon Mason as celebrant.  Burial is in St.
John Catholic Cemetery, Hubbardston.  Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Sharp
Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, and 9 a.m. until
the time of service Monday at the church.
