Smith of 235 Lafayette street, died early Wednesday morning at Grand Valley Nursing Center in Grand Rapids, where she has been a resident the past year. She was 88 years of age. Mrs. Smith, an 1899 graduate of Ionia high school, had been a resident of the City of Ionia continuously since her marriage June 5, 1901, to Kimball R. Smith Jr. Her Ionia address was 229 East Washington street. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be at St. Johns Episcopal church at 11 a.m. Friday and interment will be in the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. The body is at the Boynton funeral home. Born in Hastings on December 9, 1879, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Dollie Cressy Geer and William R. Geer. Her husband preceded her in death September 29, 1946. She is survived by her son , Judge Smith, and two grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. Ms. Smith has for years been an active member of St. Johns Episcopal church of Ionia and St. Barnabas guild, the board of Hall-Fowler Memorial library, Stevens Thomson Mason chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and Women’s Literary club of Ionia. Many years ago she and several of her friends in the community organized a welfare group which was later operated on a public basis. Subsequent Publication: Saturday, December 30, 1967 Funeral services for Mrs. K. R. Smith, Jr., who died Wednesday were Friday morning at St. Johns Episcopal church with Fr. Raymond Bierlein officiating and Harold Freeman presiding at the organ. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery. Bearers were Max Koss, John Fravel, Marshall Westfall, John Rademacher, Foster Huber, Dr. Richard E. Campbell, George Vance and Fred Thwaites. Courthouse employees were seated in a group. Relatives attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. John Potts of Grand Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Kimball Smith of Portland.
