Daily Standard - Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1898

The funeral services for Miss Mae Smith were held at the family residence on 
State street this afternoon, and were attended by a large number of friends. 
The services were by Rev. Dr. Oxtoby, whose intimate relations as pastor of 
deceased had given him a thorough knowledge and deep appreciation of the beauty 
of her character, and his words were tender with deep feeling that touched the 
hearts of all present. The members of the board of education acted as pall 
bearers, and the teachers as escort. Many floral testimonials showed the tender 
regard of life-long associates. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
