Snyder of Ionia a former resident of Otisco aged 63 years died last Thursday and was buried in Otisco Sunday. Mr. Snyder was the father of Mrs. Geo. Stout. The deceased was living with a son. -------------------- Transition. Passed to higher life from his home in Ionia township Thursday, July 7, 1898, after years of painful suffering, John D. Snyder, in his 63rd year. Deceased was born in Pittstown, Reno county, N.Y. In his early childhood he came with his parents to Otisco where he grew to manhood. At the age of 21 he was married to Priscilla Belding. Twelve years ago she was suddenly called to higher life without a moment’s warning, leaving husband and children grief stricken; but the positive knowledge of a future life and spirit return comforted him as he walked the remainder of life’s journey alone. Spiritualism was his religion. He was firm, [unreadable], and wavered not, firmly holding to the end, and was respected by his many friends. A good citizen and honorable man. He was unconscious his last few hours but was tenderly watched by his aged father and three daughters, one son, and few friends. His request was that Miss Sheets of Grand Ledge should speak and tender to the loved ones consolation which the gospel of spiritualism alone affords the bereaved heart. Services at the home on Sunday and his remains brought to Otisco and laid to rest by the side of his wife and daughter.
