Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, Aug. 30, 1900

A Pioneer of the County and Eighteen Years Resident of the City.

David B. Soule, who has been a resident of Ionia county since the fifties, and 
who for 18 years was a resident of this city, died Sunday evening at the home 
of his son in Sunfield. Mr. Soule was 77 years of age, and came to Michigan 
from Bridgewater, Oneida county, New York, in 1855, settling if the village of 
Ionia, where he was three times elected a justice of the peace and was a good 
honest citizen. He was a wagon maker at south Ionia. In 1874, he bought a farm 
in Sebewa and moved thereon, following the occupation of farming until a year 
ago when he went to Lake Odessa to live and four weeks ago his health was such 
that he went to the home of his son, O.L. Soule, in Sunfield, where he died.

Mr. Soule was married in the forties to Miss Maria H. Hubbell, a sister of the 
late Alonzo Hubbell. The lived happily together until three years ago when she 
died, and a year later their only daughter, Mrs. Henry Rodebaugh, also passed 
away. The other two children survive the father, O.O. Soule, of Sunfield, and 
H.A. Soule of this city.

The remains of the deceased were brought to Ionia Tuesday, and the funeral 
service held from the Church of Christ at 11:30 a.m.; interment in Highland 
Park cemetery by the side of the deceased wife.
