Ionia Daily Sentinel, 22 Oct 1951

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, October 22, at the Hamilton 
funeral home in Detroit for John L. Steele, 78, who died there early Saturday 
of a heart ailment.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Steele, he was born in 1873 in Meaford, Canada, 
moving to Ionia with his parents when a boy.  He attended the Ionia public 
schools and was a member of the high school class of 1892.

For 40 years he had been associated with the First National Bank of Detroit.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley, of Detroit, and four sisters, Miss Margaret 
Steele, Miss Mary Steele and Miss Jessie D. Steele of Ionia and Mrs. Arthur 
Haddon of Chicago.  Miss Margaret Steele and Mrs. Haddon attended the services.
