Ionia Daily Sentinel, 23 Feb 1916

Mr. and Mrs. B.N. Talcott and Keith Talcott were at Crystal Monday to attend the
funeral of Mr. Talcott’s sister, Mrs. Alice E. Steere, who passed away Feb.18,
after only a brief illness with grip and complications.  Mrs. Steere was a
former Ionia county girl, having passed her girlhood and the first years of her
married life in Ronald, afterward moving to Crystal where she resided until her
death.  Surviving her are her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Talcott, her husband, four
daughters, one son and two brothers.  When she passed away a good and kindly
light went out and those who knew her are sadder for it.  She did the work her
hands found to do so faithfully and well her useful life was a blessing to her
friends.  The funeral was held from the M.E. church, burial in Crystal cemetery.
 The mass of flowers and crowded church testified mutely to the regard in which
she was held by friends and as the days come and go we will look in places where
we were won’t to see her dear face and  “long for the touch of a vanquished hand
and the sound of a voice that is still.”
