Glen Keith Tanner, 72, of Greenville, died December 15, 1994 at his home.  He 
was born February 13, 1922 in Ionia, the son of Phyllis (Hall) and Glen 
Tanner.  He lived in Ionia throughout his childhood and graduated from Ionia 
High School in 1939.

He married Margaret Stedman on June 5, 1942.  After serving in the Army during 
WWII as a sergeant in the 565th Army Air Force band based in Reno, Nev., he 
and his family returned to Ionia.  

He was employed at the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co.  He studied to become a 
tool and die marker, serving his apprenticeship and obtaining his master 
journeyman card.  As a tool and die maker, he joined Greenville Tool and Die 
Co. in 1950 and retired in 1984.  In 1992 he and his wife, Margaret, 
celebrated their 50th year of marriage.  For the last seven winters they have 
resided in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his mother, Phyllis Howard of 
Greenville; his son David K. Tanner of Brighton; two daughters: Linda K. 
(Scott) Strodtman of Ypsilanti; Holly S. (Daniel) Welch, of Fairfield, Conn.; 
two grandsons: Andrew L. Strodtman and Jonathon H. Welch; on granddaughter, 
Susan K. Strodtman; one brother, Maxwell E. (Kathryn) Tanner of Ann Arbor; one 
half-brother; Warren (Jean Ann) Tanner, of Dimondale; one half-sister, Carol 
Y. (Dale M.) Brown, of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.  He 
was preceded in death by his father, Glen Tanner; his stepfather Raymond 
Howard; and two grandchildren: Steven L. and Melissa K. Strodtman.

Visitation will be Saturday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home 
in Greenville.  Funeral and committal services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the 
funeral home.  There will be a private burial at Rest Haven Memory Gardens in 
the spring.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greater Grand Rapids, 750 
Fuller NE., P.O. Box 2427, Grand Rapids, MI 49501-2427; or the Greenville 
Public Library, 205 S. Franklin St., Greenville.
