Diane Adair Reed Terito, 11 December 1946 – 15 August 20154.

Diane was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Dec. 11, 1946; just one day before 
her mother's birthday.  She passed away quietly, early on the morning of Aug. 
15; just one day after her father's birthday.  A fitting entry into and 
departure from a world in which she spent her time showing her parents, 
sisters, friends, and husband the love she had for them.  She was her mother's 
Miss America, her father's staunchest ally, her husband's best friend, and 
sisters' greatest advocate.

Diane attended schools in Santa Monica, California, where she was active in 
numerous extra-curricular activities including the Santa Monica High School 
(Class of 1964) drama club.  She thrilled her sisters every time they got to 
attend one of their productions, or even rehearsals for that matter, 
particularly when it meant a ride in her convertible. 

After graduation she spent her first year of college at the University of the 
Pacific in Stockton, California, then transferred to Northwestern University 
(Class of 1968) where she studied English and continued her involvement with 
theater.  Amazingly, for a woman who had such poise and talent she ultimately 
chose to hide her beautiful singing voice and dramatic talent and not pursue 
theater.  Instead she devoted her skills with people to working in the travel 
business, taking only one break to earn an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University 
while helping to care for her mother during her battle with Alzheimer's.  
Highlights of her active career included working as a Marketing Director for 
Great Western Travel and as Housing and Logistics Coordinator for the 1985 
Special Olympics World Games in Park City, Utah, followed by 25 years with Auto 
Europe as Sales Representative for an area extending from L.A. to Santa 
Barbara, California.

Diane loved to travel and did so extensively, including living for several 
years in Germany.  This love of new experiences and people was reflected in her 
everyday approach to life.  She was open to all, flashing her winning smile and 
sharp wit. 

Diane was predeceased by her beloved mother, Geraldine Meyer Reed, and father, 
Dr. Thomas G. Reed and is survived by her husband, Mike Terito of Agua Dulce, 
California; sisters Janice Reed-Smith (Lon Smith) of Lake Odessa, Michigan, and 
Karen Reed Talcott (Gary Talcott); nieces Sarah and Becka Talcott of Denver, 
Colorado; and numerous beloved cousins and friends.  Diane will be missed, 
never forgotten and loved forever.

Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, Michigan, on Sept. 20, 
2014, at 4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that those wishing to 
honor Diane's memory make a donation to Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease Foundation, 
Inc. (www.cjdfoundation.org).
